The Sports and Recreation Centre at The University of Auckland City Campus was an award-winning
building in the 1970s, but in 2012 it was in a desperate need of an upgrade. This project consists of interior refurbishments and mechanical upgrades to the exercise studios and administration area. This includes a new spin class studio and physiotherapy suite, along with improved front of house administration office with meeting room, and staff lunch room. The project also included new mechanical plant space and refurbishments to the existing changing rooms & showers. Klein was also involved in the new brand identity graphics on the building facade.
The refurbishment seeks to significantly improve the Recreation Centre's image and visibility on the
campus, and uplifts the interiors atmosphere and occupant comfort level, especially over summer.
