The Ahurewa Spiritual Centre at North Shore Hospital provides a peaceful and contemplative space for patients, visitors and staff in a busy hospital environment. Located on level 3, the chapel has views towards Lake Pupuke and can seat over 60 people.
A vibrant 100-year-old stained glass window forms the focal point of the space, and a raked timber ceiling creates warmth for an uplifting experience. Glazed alcove spaces display spiritual items from different cultures and religions including Maori and Pacifika, Judaism and Christianity.
The chapel also includes a separate prayer room with individual male and female prayer spaces, and a quiet room available for patients and families. A staff room with kitchen facilities for events, two large seminar rooms and four chaplaincy offices make up the support spaces.
