Klein — Principal

Melanie has an exceptional track record in significant hospital projects – both public and private. Her architectural and organisational talents have driven success on some of Klein’s most rewarding ventures.

Melanie joined Klein in 2007, rising to Senior Associate in 2010 and Principal in 2016. A natural communicator, she espouses the importance of consultation and collaboration with clients, clinical staff and users in order to truly understand a design brief. Melanie relishes her design leadership roles and finds it particularly rewarding in guiding large project teams to achieve effective healthcare outcomes.

Within her field of expertise, Melanie also has a special interest in the design of mental health facilities and a commitment to enhance the recovery process through patient centred design reflected in her work as Senior Project Architect on the Ta Aka forensic unit and the Tiaho Mai acute adult mental health unit at Middlemore hospital which is setting new benchmarks for facilities nationally.

Melanie is currently Senior Health Planner and Project Architect on the CDHB Hillmorton Specialist Mental Health Services project, which includes designing for mothers and babies, eating disorders and children and adolescents.
