This state of the art surgical facility located on Peterborough Street in Christchurch marked a historic milestone as the first significant new building to be completed in the red zone following the 2011 earthquake.

The facility’s sustainable design has resulted in a 4 Green Star design rating, the first of its kind for a medical facility in New Zealand. Sustainable design features include solar power, smart lighting, heat recovery, air conditioning, waste reduction and built in energy optimising building management system. It also utilises new seismic technology to provide the highest level of strength and safety for all of its users.

The interior provides a modern, light-filled environment for its specialist consulting suites including fertility, laboratory and radiology, 4 fully equipped operating theatres, 12-bed recovery area, inpatient ward and patient and staff support zones including day lounges and a cafe.

Klein were commissioned by Forté Health to complete the specialist interior fit out and design working with the base build architects Wilson and Hill and planner Ruth Whitehead.
