The endoscopy suite at Hawke's Bay Hospital is a 2-storey 890m2 building that opened in October 2018. The new building connects into the existing north corridor, adjacent to the main entry of the Hastings Hospital and has good adjacency to the existing theatre suite.
The suite includes three endoscopy procedure rooms. Initially two rooms were commissioned and the third was constructed to shell level only, to be fitted out a future date. Consideration was given to flows of patients, whānau, staff, and goods (cleans and dirty).
Eight bed bays and eight chair bays are provided in the adjacent recovery areas. There is an adjacent consulting suite that provides six consult clinic rooms will provide gastroenterology services such as IBD & PEG clinics, consultant/specialist assessments, infusions and advice.
The upper floor provides administrative zone and staff support. The floor is dedicated to staff and consists of offices, a large meeting room, a staff room, and changing facilities.
This project has enabled timely access to endoscopy procedures for the Hawke's Bay community.
