Klein was commissioned to modernise the front of house facilities of the Starship outpatient department to provide a more streamlined and functional service for patients and their families.

The new generously open-plan space is crisp and vibrant, providing clear circulation through from the entry, past the self check-in kiosks, reception and finally through to the consulting rooms.

The welcoming reception counter provides a dynamic central hub with excellent observation over the entire space. The joinery has been carefully designed to be child-friendly and approachable while still maintaining a high level of functionality for the staff.

Custom-designed fixed furniture interspersed with loose colourful stools provide flexibility for the changing requirements of the waiting area while also ensuring that visitor prams and wheelchairs will have room to be parked and manoeuvred.

Other internal works included:

  • Minor refurbishment works to the consulting rooms, including new wash hand basins and ceilings
  • A new breastfeeding room
  • New finishes to main patient corridors
